- Provide equal opportunities for ALL children.
- Teach children a sense of responsibility showing respect for others and the environment
Our School Values
Our values were agreed together and form the basis for all that we do in school. They are woven into our policies, our lesson planning and our routines. We encourage staff and pupils to be aware of and to use these through our curriculum and through everyday activities. Our values are:
Respect: We show respect to each other and to school property all of the time.We show respect by following our school rules and values and by our actions to each other.
Aiming High: We always try our very best so that every day we know more and can do more. We have high expectations for ourselves and for others.
Community: We welcome every member of our community to the school. We care for every member of our school community. We are an inclusive school, recognising and valuing diversity.
Kindness: We are always kind to each other and think about how we can make sure our school is a happy, safe environment. We show kindness by caring and supporting each other, listening to each other and sharing ideas and resources.
BRITISH VALUES
Democracy
Each year the children decide upon their class charter and how these protect our rights and ensure that we are ready, respectful and safe. All the children contribute to drawing up the charter. We have a school council who are democratically elected by their peers. The council is able to affect change within the school.
The Rule of Law
The importance of laws, whether they are those that govern the class, the school, or the country, is consistently reinforced. Pupils are taught the rules of the school. They are taught the value and reasons behind rules and laws, that they govern and protect us, the responsibilities that this involves and the consequences when laws are broken. Visits from authorities such as the Police and Fire Service help reinforce this message.
Individual Liberty
Pupils are actively encouraged to make choices, knowing that they are in a safe and supportive environment. We educate and provide boundaries for our pupils to make informed choices, through a safe environment and an empowering education. Pupils are advised how to exercise their rights safely, for example, through our PSHE and RSE lessons.
Mutual Respect
Mutual respect is at the heart of our values. Children learn to treat other people with dignity and recognise their value.
Tolerance of those of Different Faiths and Beliefs
We promote diversity through our celebrations of different faiths and cultures. Religious Education lessons, RSE and PSHE lessons reinforce messages of tolerance and respect for others. Members of all faiths and religions are encouraged to share their knowledge to enhance learning within classes and school.
