Admission Consultation Questions

Q1 - The school has recently had extensive building work taken place that has been fairly disruptive for children in infants, if you were to go ahead with single form admissions, what will the other classrooms be used for?

A1 - Thank you for your enquiry regarding the proposed admission changes and for your patience during the recent building works. We understand that construction can be disruptive, and we appreciate the support of our parents as we work to improve our school.

To answer your question regarding the classrooms, the reduction in pupil numbers is a strategic move that allows us to enhance the learning environment in several ways:

  • Bringing the Schools Together: Having fewer empty "standard" classrooms allows us to move different year groups into the newly renovated spaces. This is a significant step in our long-term plan to bring the Infant and Junior phases closer together, with the eventual goal of becoming a single, unified primary school.

  • Facilities Improvement: The surplus space gives us the flexibility to relocate classes temporarily. This means we can renovate and redecorate the Junior classrooms without further disrupting the children's learning, as they can move into the updated "spare" rooms while work is carried out.

  • Specialised Learning Spaces: Under-utilised classrooms may also be repurposed into dedicated spaces for music, art, technology, or targeted intervention hubs, providing facilities that a full-capacity school might not have the space to offer.

  • Future Flexibility: While we are reducing numbers now to match local demand and ensure financial stability, our long-term hope is to return to a two-form entry if the local birth rate and housing redevelopments in Druids Heath increase demand in the future.

In short, the single-form entry model allows us to use our "bricks and mortar" more creatively to provide a better, more modern experience for your child and their peers.
